Do I need my Modules / Units of Competency requirements for the application completed first?

Unless you’re approaching completion we recommend completing the modules of your RII40420 Release 2 – Certificate IV in Underground Coal Operations prior to doing our Exam Preparation Course.

Just remember your Cert IV need to meet the required units set by the QLD Board of Examiners found in the application

The exam prep is most effective when commenced as you’ve got everything for your application completed and looking to submit it.

Do you do Bulk Bookings?

Yes, we can customise a Bulk Booking for large groups to do their Deputy Certificate either online or face-to-face.

What are the main steps to get my Deputy’s Certificate of Competency for Underground Coal Mines?

Okay process to get your Deputy ticket in a nutshell:

Application Phase

Do your RII40420 Release 2 – Certificate IV in Underground Coal Operations which includes the units outlined in the application.
Complete your RIICOM301E and RIIWHS301E (This can be done as part of the above Cert IV)
Complete your Statutory Officials Emergency Response Course and Statutory Officials Emergency Response Course with QMRS (Queensland Mine Rescue Service)
Complete First Aid Units: HLTAID009 and HLTAID011
Complete your Resume showing, in chronological order, where you have worked and what work you performed in each position
Get all documents signed by a Justice of the Peace (JP) or a Commissioner for Declarations (Cdec) as being true copies of the originals. Get Statutory Declaration signed.
Complete the Work History document.
Get SSE to fill our and sign Endorsement to sit the exam

Sit the Written Legislation Exam and pass using our Deputy Theory Exam Preparation course
Sit your Deputy Oral Exam

What are the Work History requirements for Deputy?

As part of the application for Deputy / ERZ Controller the work history document needs to be completed and include the following:

Each applicant must be able to demonstrate they have completed at least two (2) years directly involved in
the winning of coal during operations at the coal face incorporating the following:
– Minimum of 6 months working in a Gate road development panel
– Minimum of 6 months working in a Mains development panel, or Bord and Pillar development panel
– Minimum of 12 months working in a Longwall extraction panel

Also One (1) year involved working in and about underground coal mining operations that support the winning of coal.

It is recommended that this include:

Exposure to gas drainage operations
Exposure to secondary support operations
Exposure to mine transport and supply systems
Exposure to mine ventilation systems
Participation in an incident investigation
Participation in the firing of a shot in an underground coal mine
Exposure to control of the working environment including fitness for work, heat, dust and coal mine gases
Participation in SOP and or PHMP development or review.

If I get this certification, can I apply for Mutual Recognition with New South Wales?

Once completed you can apply for the NSW Deputy (Underground coal mines) you can do this by following their Mutual Recognition Application
