Do I need my Units of Competency completed first?

No, it doesn’t matter in what order the Legislation Exam or Units of Competency are done.

Yes, we sure do. For this Certificate you will need your RIIRIS501E, RIIRIS402E and BSBWHS411, we provide all of these as a combined package contextualised for Western Australian mining and legislation. These can be booked here.

How do I book my exam with DEMIRS?

We recommend booking an exam date at least 4 weeks from the Exam Preparation Course workshop date that you book with us so you can prepare in time. Bookings are through the DEMIRS MSPP website and you can book your DEMIRS exam date here.

What’s the difference between Units of Competency (UOC) Training and the DEMIRS Exam Preparation Courses?

To get your WA Radiation Safety Officer certificate, you will need to complete:

The Unit of Competency courses (RIIRIS501E, RIIRIS402E and BSBWHS411) involve completing course work and submitting assessments.
Your DEMIRS Law Exam. The Exam Preparation Course found on this page is a self-paced course beginning with a one day workshop that will take you through all the knowledge and tactics to pass the challenging legislation exam first go. For Radiation Safety Offcier (NORM) you will need to pass the following exams:
- Mine Air Quality Officer
- Radiation Safety Officer (NORM)We provide exam preparation courses for each of the Mine Air Quality Officer and Radiation Safety Officer (NORM) and we recommend choosing one as a module when signing up (see the next FAQ below)

What Legislation will we cover?

In the course we will cover and provide physical copies of the following:

Western Australian Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WHS Act)
Western Australian Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 (WHS Regs)
Relevant Codes of Practices (COPs)

What if I need some of the other Statutory Certificates, can I do them all at once? What are Modules? Are there discounts?

If you need multiple certificates (E.g. primarily the Radiation Safety Officer (NORM) certificate and also requiring the Mine Air Quality Officer certificate) then we can provide those extra certificates as additional modules. We remove all overlap and we heavily discount them approx. 90% off for each additional certificate.

We believe it’s always key to get statutory certificates as soon as possible as they’re always getting harder and the requirements will always continue to grow. This is an amazing opportunity to knock them all over in one hit.

To book extra modules, simply select the extra modules when signing up to your Primary Course. Please see the below configuration as some management level courses may need to be booked primarily rather than be added as modules.
